Terrebonne fugitive found in Lafourche
April 26, 2017A Houma man is in custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly took ‘thousands of dollars’ from two mentally challenged adult men.
On March 1, detectives were contacted by a family member of the men, stating that money had been stolen from them.
The family member allegedly provided bank statements to authorities, which show money being withdrawn from the two men’s accounts and also money transferred from their accounts – starting in May 2016 and lasting until February 2017.
According to authorities, there were multiple large amounts of money stolen from the accounts, either through checks written to the suspect, ATM transactions, debit card purchases and money transferred by phone – a total that came out to more than $200,000.
According to authorities, this started sometime before May 2016 when one of the victims was allegedly at a local convenience store putting air in one of his tires. At that time, he was allegedly approached by a suspect, identified as Joey Jonathan Folse, 39, of 2615 Express Boulevard, Houma.
Folse allegedly assisted the victim in putting air in his tire, then told the victim that the valve flew off and hit him in the face.
Sometime after that, the victim allegedly agreed to pay Folse $15,000 for his injury, and during that communication, the suspect allegedly obtained the personal bank information for both the victim and his brother’s accounts.
After an extensive investigation, TPSO detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for Folse, and on Monday night, they located him during a traffic stop and took him into custody.
He’s charged with two counts of theft of assets of aged persons or disabled persons.
He is held on a $300,000 bond.
