In Berwick, a one-day community-oriented festival returns for its third year.

Like the Harvest Moon Festival in Franklin, the Lighthouse Festival is held in conjunction with Tour du Teche IV, whose paddlers conclude their journey the St. Mary Parish town.

Organizers expect more than 40 food, game and arts and crafts booth vendors to participate this year. They provide children’s entertainment, as well.

The expected participation is indicative of how the young festival continues to grow.

The Berwick Volunteer Fire Department serves jambalaya dinners for $7 per plate.

Vendors do not have to pay a fee to exhibit and sell wares during the festival.

Music is provided by the band La South and a disc jockey.

A car show, open to all makes and models, is also featured. Awards are given out in various categories.

The event is held on Front Street, adjacent to Berwick Bay and the bright red, recently repainted lighthouse overlooking it.

The Lighthouse Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 6. Admission is free.
