Editor’s Picks for November
November 1, 2012I’ve heard a rumor, and I’d like to share it with you.
This one comes to me from a highly reliable source inside the very band itself. I’ve been going to Houma shows for years now, and in all of that time I have only one hands-down favorite Houma original band. That band is the incomparable Johnny on Coke.
It should be no surprise if this name sounds familiar to you, because for years the three-piece played venues for numerous fans all around the Gulf Coast.
The band has been on an indefinite hiatus since guitarist and singer Mike Plaisance left to join the United States Coast Guard. Bassist Terrell Clark and drummer Adam Clement have been keeping themselves busy with multiple projects in the past years, including such bands as The Beautiful Hips, Ravens of October and Glassbeards.
However, could there be new music and shows coming in the future? If my contacts within the band are correct, then yes!
Look forward to new JOC music and shows coming to you at the end of next year. I can’t wait to see my friend of course, but more than anything, I can’t wait to hear new music from my favorite band once again!
Johnny on Coke’s “Feelin’ Alright” record. The band, on hiatus since guitarist and singer Mike Plaisance joined the Coast Guard, may be nearing a reunion.
