Gumbo’s Greatest Hits revealed
December 3, 2012It has been rumored that there is new metal music available from one of Houma’s original bands. That rumor, I’m happy to tell you, is true. The band is Cyanide Smile, and they have just released their debut CD “Manifesto.” The album is full of aggressive, in-your-face metal. It’s sure to quench the pallet of the local metalhead.
Cyanide Smile is a five-piece band made up of some of Houma’s finest metal musicians. Miles Brunet on vocals, Scott Blanchard and Scott Marin on guitars, Danny Eschete on bass, and last but certainly not least, the incomparable Shawn “Diesel” Roddy on the percussion. The album is eight insane tracks long.
I recently sat down with Diesel and asked what he thought the CD tried to encapsulate. He replied with: “It’s like 80s American thrash metal meets 90s European metal.”
The CD is available now at all Cyanide Smile shows. You can see the band again Dec. 21 at the Boxer and the Barrel for the End of the World metal show. If you’re a fan of banging your head to some incredible tunes, then you definitely need to get your metal-loving mitts on “Manifesto” by Cyanide Smile.
