May 4, 2009Jazz duo Bobby Pitre and Johnny Totina headline the annual Spring Jazz Brunch Sunday, May 17, at Southdown Plantation, 1208 Museum Drive in Houma.
Chicken Scratch Catering will serve a southern brunch buffet complete with grillades, cheese grits, carrot soufflé, crawfish and andouille egg strata, creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin. Also expect fresh fruit, lemon Madelines, almond poppy seed pound cake and muffins.
Works by a number of local artists are also on display for silent bidding. (Donated artwork is still being accepted for the auction.)
A complimentary bar with champagne, mimosas and Bloody Marys opens at noon. The buffet follows from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are $35 per person. Tables of eight are available. Seating is outdoors under the Buquet Pavilion. In the event of rain, the brunch will be moved indoors.
