Lady Tigers fall, but LSU baseball, softball teams have successful weekend
April 3, 2007Rides for the young and young-at-heart can be found at the Family Fun Festival in Larose.
Set for April 27-29, the Family Fun Festival at Larose Regional Park and Civic Center is a favorite on the spring-festival list.
Proceeds from the three-day event help maintain operations of Larose’s self-sustained facilities.
The festival includes Cajun and Creole and American foods, music, dancing and carnival rides. Admission and parking are free.
The festival was founded in 1964 by then-principal of Holy Rosary School, Sister Claire Rodrigue. It continues to grow.
A home-grown event, the festival features musicians and performing artists from Lafourche Parish.
In addition, over the weekend, tournaments are held in flag football, 3-on-3 basketball, and kid’s fishing casting to entice sports enthusiasts. Pirogue races along Bayou Lafourche are also a highlight of the festival.
There is also a craft market on site, a live auction and, of course, a fair, to round out the festival.
