December 5, 2011The NBA is busy wheeling and dealing in advance of its Dec. 25 start to the season.
One famous basketball brigade already has its roster set.
They plan to show off just how good they are in Houma.
The world famous Harlem Globetrotters are bringing their 2012 World Tour to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center.
The game will take place Jan. 24 and tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Globetrotters are known worldwide as the planet Earth’s most famous basketball team.
This year’s troop isn’t much different, although several new faces make up the team’s roster.
Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, the world’s tallest professional basketball player, standing 7-foot, 8-inches leads the team’s rookie class into Houma.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Globetrotters also have the shortest-ever Globetrotter, 5-foot, 2-inch Jonte “Too Tall” Hall.
The famous team also has its first female player since 1993, former Temple University standout Fatima “TNT” Maddox.
Aside from the rookies, the Globetrotters have some of the most explosive basketball players in the world.
A total of three contestants in the 2011 College Slam Dunk Contest are members of the roster, including Jacob “Hops” Tucker, John “Jet” Williams and Darnell “Spider” Wilks.
Tickets for the event start at $25 and can be purchased online at www.harlemglobetrotters.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Anyone interested in a night of hoops should attend; the Globetrotters are always sure to put smiles on the faces of everyone in attendance.
“The Globetrotters are excited to welcome a new generation of stars to carry on the storied tradition of the world’s most entertaining basketball team,” the team’s CEO, Kurt Schneider said.
