May 2, 2008The South LA Community Orchestra welcome famed fiddlers Waylon Thibodeaux and Papa Gene Dusenberry Sunday, May 18, at a performance at the Houma Municipal Auditorium.
Houma native Thibodeaux and long-time local favorite Dusenberry will join the orchestra in “Houma on the Range,” a blend of Appalachian mountain songs and Cajun fiddling.
In addition, Cajun dancers will provide demonstrations of the waltz and two-step.
Appalachian mountain songs draw from their combined Irish and Scottish influences. Teamed with the Cajun flair – Thibodeaux’s bread and butter, the music combines a gumbo of styles in one pot on the Houma stage.
Tickets are $5 at the door, or $3 in advance at Fabregas Music.
