Like bar hopping? Well, Crescent Crown Distributing has just the thing for you. On Thursday, Sept. 10, bar-goers will be able to participate in their first ever pub crawl in downtown Thibodaux.

The idea came from Louisiana beer brewing company, Abita, who sponsors pub crawls in the Lafayette and New Orleans area.

Jamie Rodrigue, district manager for Crescent Crown Distributing in Thibodaux, said it’s a chance to get a group of people in the same bar at the same time to spread the wealth.

“We’ll go to one bar for an hour, then go to another for an hour at a time,” he said. “Then go to the next one and just stay for an hour in each bar. It brings a lot of different people to one bar at a time so it spreads the wealth around and doesn’t keep everyone in one bar.”

Signup is from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peppers in Thibodaux, which will be the first stop on the crawl. From there, participants will go as a group to Rene’s, the Red Goose, Rox’s, the Library and Last Call for $1 Abita Amber on draft.

“We’re only doing Abita right now to see how it goes,” Rodrigue said. “Anyone in the crawl can drink for a dollar, but it’ll be regular price for everyone else. It’s free to sign up but IDs will be checked to make sure they are 21.”

The first 200 people to sign up get a free T-shirt in addition to the drink specials.

If the event is successful, Rodrigue said they would look to branch it out into Houma.

“We wanted to do it in Thibodaux first because of Nicholls being here,” he said. “If it’s successful in a college town then we will probably start doing them in Houma as well.”
