You’re invited to Christmas on the Cajun Coast

The Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau invites you visit St. Mary Parish this holiday season. Throughout the Christmas holidays, the region will be decorated with lighted trails, splendid homes dressed for the season, parades, performances, arts & crafts and more.

The Idlewild Plantation Christmas Lighting runs through Jan. 1, 2011. Take a driving tour along a path filled with elaborate displays of Christmas lights while Christmas music enhances the drive through Kemper Williams Park. Admission is $2 per car.

Throughout December, historic homes in the parish will be beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays. The Grevemberg House in Franklin will be decorated in the Victorian Style Christmas. Displays will include a traditional Victorian Christmas tree and displays of traditional foods and fruits. Admission is $10 per person, $8 for seniors. Also, Oaklawn Manor, the residence of Louisiana’s former governor and wife, Mike and Alice Foster, will be elaborately adorned for Christmas with a different style tree in every room. Admission is $15 per person.

The 15th Annual Christmas Tree Festival is set for Dec. 9 through Jan. 1, 2011, at the Louisiana State Museum in Patterson. Christmas trees decorated by children in the area will be on exhibit. Also, the 22nd Annual Christmas by Candlelight is Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., on Bernice Street in Morgan City.

Pharr Chapel Methodist Church hosts its Annual Christmas Cantata Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. And on Dec. 19, a Tuneweavers Christmas Concert starts at 2 p.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church. The Tuneweavers will be performing with Franklin’s Church of the Assumption Handbell Choir. Admission is free for both events.
