Reader: School retirees deserve acknowledgement

Dear Editor,

It is so nice that Rickie Pitre and Clark Bonvillian were honored for their combined 50 years serving as [Terrebonne Parish] school board members.

It would be equally appropriate to honor retiring teachers, administrators and support personnel with at least a letter of appreciation for their years of service. As it is now, a retiree receives no acknowledgement of anything. It is like all of those years of hard work and dedication are not worthy of a mention.
