A full 24 hours has passed since our first update about potential snow in the area.

Since that time, little has changed.

Weather experts still think there’s a good possibility that we see winter precipitation over night and into tomorrow morning – especially in Terrebonne Parish.

Fox-8 Chief Meteorologist David Bernard posted a computer model map this morning which shows Terrebonne Parish forecast to get two inches of snow/wintry mix overnight. In Northern Lafourche, the forecast is about the same, while just a few flakes and frozen rain are expected for southern Lafourche.

Bernard said because the ground is warmer than the air, we should not expect the snow to stick, which should keep roadways safe throughout the weather event.

No final decision has been made yet regarding school closures in Lafourche or Terrebonne parishes for Friday.

Lafourche officials met via conference call on Thursday afternoon and school is still open for Friday at this time, though parents are urged to check the school board’s Facebook page for updates throughout the night.
