October 19, 2011Looking for a good read and a chance to meet a well-known author?
Visitors of the Terrebonne Parish Main Library may be in luck this week.
The library announced that acclaimed author Pete Earley will be visiting the library tomorrow, Oct. 20, from 6 p.m., 8 p.m. at the library’s book review.
During his stay, the author will discuss his book titled “Crazy: A Father’s Search Through America’s Mental Health Madness”.
“Crazy” was a finalist for the 2007 general non-fiction Pulitzer Prize.
Based on true-life experiences, Earley details his own son’s experiences with mental illness and the experiences he went through as a father attempting to navigate through a convoluted mental health system.
In the book, Earley details through his own experiences and also outside research that he learned the truth about what happens to mentally ill people who have the misfortune of breaking the law.
