September 28, 2024In addition to many other planned celebrations at the upcoming Bayou Arts Fest, the Bayou Regional Arts Council is thrilled to announce their newest feature– the showcasing of a celebrity artist!
This year’s inaugural artist is the multi-talented Tom Drummond, bassist and vocalist for the band Better Than Ezra, location scout for hit TV shows and films, and photographer.
Tom Drummond, known by the photography moniker “Melville,” is not only a platinum-selling musician, but has also built a multifaceted career in the film industry. After achieving fame with hit albums like Deluxe and Friction, Baby, Tom expanded his creative portfolio, working behind the scenes as a location scout for notable film and TV productions.

“[Tom’s] work as a location scout includes contributions to NCIS: New Orleans, David Fincher’s The Killer, and the hit series Claws, where his deep knowledge of the city’s landscapes and architecture proved invaluable,” reads a statement from the Bayou Regional Arts Counci. “This experience sharpened his eye for detail and further fueled his passion for photography, particularly in capturing the vibrant and often cinematic scenery of New Orleans.
“Now, as “Melville,” Tom has turned his focus to landscape photography, specializing in the iconic streetcars of New Orleans and the natural beauty of Louisiana. His photography showcases the same artistic vision he brought to his music, blending a keen sense of composition with a love for storytelling,” continues the statement. “Tom continues to thrive as a visual artist, offering a unique perspective on both the city he calls home and the broader world around him.”
