The Bayou Regional Arts Council is excited to unveil the official poster for their 2024 Bayou Arts Fest, designed and painted by Houma-native artist Hans Geist!

“Hans’s vibrant artwork captures the joyful spirit of our community and the rich cultural heritage of the Bayou,” reads a statement from the Bayou Regional Arts Council. “Pick up your own signed and numbered print at the Festival on October 12th. Join us in celebrating creativity and local talent at this year’s festival! Mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable experience!”

Geist graduated from Nicholls State University and has been a career artist for over thirty years, working mostly in large-scale murals. Geist travels around southern Louisiana and the United States, painting murals for a variety of restaurants, businesses, residential locations, and towns, often reflecting the history or purpose of the specific locations. The local artist has painted several beautiful, well-known murals around Downtown Houma, such as ‘History of Terrebonne Parish,’ ‘Home Sweet Houma,’ and more.

Geist’s 2024 Bayou Arts Fest poster is colorful and exploding with life, depicting an alligator and two crawfish ready to paint and enjoy some good music. To see more of Geist’s artwork, please visit his Facebook page.

The Bayou Arts Fest, hosted by Explore Houma, is known for promoting local artists while simultaneously embracing our area’s unique artistic diversity and culture. Last year’s festival attracted roughly 15,000 people, and that number is expected to grow this year.

This year’s Bayou Regional Arts Council will be particularly unique, featuring the new ‘Culture Collective’ presented by the Atchafalaya National Heritage Foundation Legacy Grant. “From Cajun and Creole to Vietnamese and Native American, experience a kaleidoscope of traditions, flavors, and rhythms as we showcase the rich tapestry of cultures that call our area home,” reads a statement from the Bayou Regional Arts Council.

The Bayou Arts Fest will take place in Downtown Houma on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 7:00-10:00 PM and Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM-11:00 PM.
