Golden Meadow votes will choose between mayoral candidates Frank Boura and Joey Bouziga.

Boura, 41, a Democrat, has served on the town council for 11 years. A graduate of South Lafourche High, he is a business owner. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Golden Meadow Rotary and director of the Fete du Cochon.

Finishing work on the town’s sewage lines tops his priority list.

“I will be very vocal in getting money to the community for the seawall project to help with the flooding problems,” he said.

“We also need to focus on our seniors and youths. There is nothing for them to do here. We don’t have Biddy Basketball anymore, and we need a gym and a skate park. These things will keep the kids out of trouble and get them outside.”

Of his qualifications, Boura said, “I own my own businesses, so I have the time to be a full-time mayor. When you come to my office, you won’t see just my secretary, you’ll see me. I will be in my office. I will treat everyone equally.”

Democrat and oilfield general manager Bouziga, 56, has served as mayfor for 12 years. Prior to that, he served on the Golden Meadow Council for 19 years.

The South Lafourche High graduate is chairman of the Lafourche Parish Recreation District 3, a board member of the Louisiana Community Development, district vice president of the Louisiana Municipality Association, and is a members of the Lafourche Parish Tax Oversight Committee, Lafourche Parish Committee on Disability and the Lafourche Energy Council. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bobby Jindal Transition Team for the Department of Transportation and Development, South Central Planning and Development and Emergency Preparation for Lafourche Parish.

“I want to bring more businesses to Golden Meadow,” Boiuziga said. “I will try to get more property available along the back highway to attract more businesses.

“I have 32 years of experience as a public official,” he said. “In my years, I have worked with the people on a local and state level to bring more than $19 million into the community.”
