July 1, 2019A Danos employee was one of two people killed in an accident this past weekend at Royal Dutch Shell’s Auger Tension Leg platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
Shell issued an email release this afternoon confirming the two deaths, saying that one of the victims was a Shell employee and the other was a contractor employed by Danos. A third person was injured, but received non-life threatening injuries.
The identities of the victims were not released, as of close of business on Monday.

According to Shell, workers were testing safety equipment during the incident at the rig, which is more than 150 miles offshore and which has been producing for 5 years.
Shell is working with federal authorities who are investigating the incident.
