Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish schools will be closed tomorrow because of Tropical Storm Harvey.

The Lafourche school system sent out an email alert around 2:30 p.m. confirming the cancellation. The Terrebonne school system announced the closure of all public schools at 4 p.m.

Both Lafourche and Terrebonne also canceled school today after the area was drenched by rain bands throughout the night.

All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux system will be closed on Wednesday, as well.

The Lafourche e-mail said the intention is to return to school Thursday, but that decision will be made tomorrow. According to Terrebonne Parish School District Public Information Officer Leonard Folse, the TPSD is planning on resuming classes Thursday, barring unforeseen circumstances.
