In keeping with its mission to help young girls gain leadership skills and responsible citizenship, the Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy will hold a book signing of Jenna Bush Hager’s book, “Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope,” beginning at 2:30 p.m. next Wednesday, June 16, at Nicholls State University.

The book that Bush Hager will be signing in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union, is a fictional story about a young girl’s battle with HIV since birth, teen pregnancy and domestic abuse in her day-to-day life. The novel focuses heavily on how the main character, Ana, learns to break away from her abusive life to better herself.

The academy itself is sponsored by the Louisiana Center for Women and Government, which, according to its website, is committed to promoting women in government and public service and acknowledging achievements of women. The academy was designed to develop leadership within girls entering grades 8 through 11.

Bush Hager will be a keynote speaker at the event following the book signing, which will also include a presentation of group service projects from academy participants prior to the keynote address at 4:45 p.m.

Both the book signing and keynote address is open to the public. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $25. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. For reservations, call (985) 448-4444.
