September 13, 2007Two Terrebonne Parish men were jailed early Wednesday after the passenger became “spooked” and the duo ran from Houma Police.
Officer Brad Cadiere was fueling his police unit at a gas station on New Orleans Boulevard and Park Avenue around 1:37 a.m. when a purple Cadillac Deville sped around the corner, tires squealing as it made the left-hand turn. The vehicle had no license plate.
Cadiere jumped in his unit and tried to stop the Cadillac. The speeding car turned right and stopped in the 100 block of Ruth Street. Police said two men jumped out of the car and ran through a yard toward a nearby historic lane. Cadiere chased and captured Bronson Esteve, 22, of 221 Isle of Cuba Road, Schriever.
Esteve reportedly told Cadiere he was running because he was “spooked.”
The driver of the Cadillac, Derrick Picou, 22, of 402 Paris Lane, Houma, was spotted a short time later at a lounge on Main Street near Barrow Street.
Picou was issued a summons for reckless operation, flight from an officer and criminal trespass. Esteve was issued a summons for flight from an officer and criminal trespass.
