Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne has announced the cast for their upcoming Le Petit After Dark production, The Vagina Monologues.

Le Petit After Dark extends the mission of Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne by offering edgier, more adult shows in tandem with its “main stage” season. Le Petit After Dark is working to broaden our community’s experiences through thought-provoking material and quality productions covering a wide-range of topics that address more adult subject matter and, therefore, may not be suitable to the broader Le Petit patronage.

The upcoming Le Petit After Dark production will be the award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues, which will introduce a wildly divergent gathering of female voices to the audience. Stories told include “a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it.”

A talented local cast of women ranging decades in age will bring this show to life (each biography is provided by Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne):

  • Stephanie Kenney-Gomez is both proud and thrilled to be a part of this production. She is currently celebrating over 50 years of working in the theatre. In addition to acting, she has directed, choreographed, produced, designed sets, stage managed and operated lights and sound for various productions in local area theatres. She serves on the Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne Board of Directors. Special thanks to Bailey, Buddy & Precious for their patience and understanding while Mommie was at rehearsals.

  • Cindy Duet is thrilled to return to the theater as part of The Vagina Monologues. She began her adventures in community theater with her debut as Peaches Verdeen Belrose in The Red Velvet Cake War last fall, followed by her portrayal of Mickey in The Odd Couple: Female Version and Jenny, the smartest little pig in The Trial of the Wicked Witch. It has been a busy year! Her love of theatre continues to grow with each performance. She sends much love to her husband and children, who support her new passion. She would like to thank her fellow cast, crew, and the director for an amazing experience yet again!

  • Anna Broussard is an Assistant Professor of Speech and Theatre at Nicholls State University, where she also serves as the director of the Nicholls Players theatre organization. In addition to directing plays at Nicholls, she has performed locally with Thibodaux Playhouse, Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne, and Lorna N Company. This is her second time participating in The Vagina Monologues, and she is thrilled to once again present the show with this outstanding cast and crew.

  • Sheri Opal is a native of Houston, Texas. She was first seen on the Le Petit Stage as Beatrice Pomeroy in Don’t Talk To The Actors. She has also been seen in Come Blow Your Horn; Sex Please, We’re Sixty; Red Velvet Cake Wars; Forbidden Broadway and most recently as Ms. Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda. Sheri thoroughly enjoys acting and is most comfortable on the stage. Comedy is her favorite genre as she has always been a comic at heart.

  • Shannon Bella appeared in Le Petit After Dark’s first production, The Exonerated, in 2016 and in Taking Leave in 2019 on Le Petit’s main stage. Shannon is grateful to do what she loves every day as an interior decorator. She has two children and three grandchildren. Shannon lives in New Orleans, but Houma will always be home. She is excited to be talking about vaginas on the stage.

  • Alyssa Doiron is the proud mom of three incredible step-children, wife to a man who loves to hold her hand, Director of Project Management for an industrial solutions company and this is her first stage appearance – she needed a hobby!

  • Abigail “Abby” Waldron has always had a passion for bringing joy and laughter to others. Her first production was in 2009 for Christmas Belles. Her parents, Joel and Susan Waldron, and her sister Eleanor, have supported her every step of the way. Abigail truly found her love for performing while working with P.S. Productions on several shows. She is currently taking a year off from Nicholls State University and will return in Fall 2025. She aspires to become an early childhood educator. She hopes to continue to perform and do what she loves; bringing joy and laughter to others. She was most recently seen in the cast of Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville at Le Petit and hopes to do more shows during her time off from Nicholls.

  • Edwina Yakupzack has been a long-time board member for Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne. This is her first time working with Le Petit After Dark. She was last seen on stage at Thibodaux Playhouse in Steel Magnolias.

  • Connie LeCompte LeBeouf is thrilled to be returning to the stage at Le Petit Theatre again. She was last seen in Sex Please, We’re Sixty. She has performed many times at Thibodaux Playhouse. Some of which are Hannah Sipping Society, Harvey, Born Yesterday, Mama Don’t Fly, along with others. Connie is a native of Houma. She is the proud mother of two children, Brannon LeBouef, and Stacey Johnson. Her two grandsons, Jax and Mason Johnson are the light of her life.

  • Taece Defillo is a New Orleans native and an emerging theater artist/writer/activist. She joined Seattle’s art scene, portraying multi-layered roles from gender-reverse, transforming to British Aristocrat, detective, and hosted a 90’s Queer Play. She also enjoys the healing that comes from bringing awareness to injustices through her activist work based in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a member of The Graduates Rising, a performance-ensemble group of formerly incarcerated individuals, that uses stories to ignite systematic change and to ultimately end mass-incarceration in Louisiana. She was last seen in Le Petit’s main stage production of The Odd Couple: Female Version and Le Petit’s After Dark production of My First Time.

  • Brenda Picou‘s last time on stage was 67 years ago when she was a can-can girl in a play at her elementary school. She would like to thank her husband, daughter and grand dog, Minnie, for their encouragement and patience. She would also like to thank the members of the cast and crew for their support. Brenda would like to leave you with a thought: My blindness is not a limitation, it is a challenge that I embrace and overcome daily.

  • Hope Daigle has been in two After Dark Productions and she has been on stage with Le Petit since 2010. She is also producing for the first time and enjoying being on the board of directors. Last seen in A Streetcar Named Desire, Hope is so grateful to be a part of this amazing production. As always, she thanks her family for always supporting her.

“Le Petit After Dark started in October of 2016 with our production of The Exonerated— we noticed that no one in our area was putting on shows with more mature, adult themes. We just want to provide more opportunities for people to enjoy local theatre,” explained Liz Folse, director with Le Petit. “We are excited to announce that our upcoming production, The Vagina Monologues, will be our first After Dark play of the season on our home turf at Le Petit Theatre.”

Evening performances of The Vagina Monologues will run from October 18-20, 2024 at Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne. Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased here. This performance is for audiences 18+.
