Multiple gunshots reported on Engeron Street in Houma
October 10, 2024Sherry and Cherry Wilmore, Everybody’s Favorite Twins, recently shared their inspiring story and represented Houma on the national stage in an interview with CBS News.
Hosted by David Begnaud, The CBS Morning News segment details Cherry and Sherry’s 12-year period in foster care, and how that led to their tenacious spirit and desire to give back to the bayou community. The segment highlighted the twins’ nonprofit CHeriSH Times Two, whose mission empowers vulnerable populations and communities to achieve self-sufficiency and resilience during life transitions.
Part of the twins’ work on the bayou also includes the wildly successful Twin Fest Louisiana, a unique fundraising event celebrating twins, multiples, and supporters, while bringing people to the Houma-area and raising funds for CHeriSH Times Two’s programs. Sherry and Cherry also create the Laptop of Love campaign, which began in 2020 to celebrate the achievements of graduating foster youth and supporting their educational journey.
In a surprise twist during the CBS segment, Cherry and Sherry were given the ultimate surprise by getting to see their younger half-brother Jeremy Wilmore for the first time in several years. The heartwarming reunion wrapped up the CBS interview as Jeremy explained how amazed he was to see what the twins have done with their lives.
“Getting to share our story on this national platform was mind-blowing and surreal,” said Cherry Wilmore. “Just the feedback we have received from it has really touched us and motivated us to continue doing what we’re doing.”
