July 22, 2010A 42-year-old Gibson man was struck and killed early Friday as he lay in the eastbound lane of La. Highway 182 in Amelia, state police reported.
Troy Francois was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after a 2001 Nissan Frontier, driven by Carlo Gagliano, 40, of Amelia, struck him, authorities said. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Troopers did not know why Francois was lying in the roadway.
State Police Troop C spokesman Master Trooper Bryan Zeringue said Francois and a female passenger, Latavia Green, 25, of Morgan City, were involved in a single vehicle crash hours earlier on U.S. Highway 90 near the Amelia exit. Zeringue said the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating that crash.
No charges have been filed in the fatal crash, Zeringue said.
The Louisiana State Police investigation is ongoing.
