A Texas man is in custody of the Houma Police Department after he allegedly drove drunk and intentionally crashed his automobile into another car.
On Dec. 13 at approximately 3:05 a.m., HPD was called to the intersection of Main and Goode streets in reference to a possible hit and run accident.
Upon arrival, officers said they learned that the driver of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler intentionally crashed into a blue Mustang that was parked on the side of Main Street.
Authorities said the crash occurred after an altercation between the driver of the Wrangler and the driver of the Mustang.
Upon arrival, authorities said, they discovered that the driver of the Wrangler also struck the owner of the Mustang and his girlfriend before taking off down Goode Street.
Both victims were taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries suffered in the incident.
After investigation, they located the Jeep Wrangler at a hotel on Industrial Boulevard with damage to its front end. Officers contacted the driver, who was identified as Carey Hester, 35, of Sioux Drive, Gatesville, Texas, police said.
Officers noted that Hester had problems standing straight and he appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, he was charged with two counts of attempted vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.
Police said Hester refused the chemical test for intoxication and was then taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

Two Houma men decided to play with public water this week.
As a result, they are both in hot water with the Houma Police Department.
On Dec. 15 at approximately 3:45 a.m., authorities entered the Houma Tunnel and noticed the emergency water valves were open, causing water to pour into the roadway, authorities said.
Upon noticing that, Melancon said that he then noticed a suspect tampering with the check valves in the tunnel, while another person ran away from the scene.
HPD said it was able to apprehend both suspects, identifying them as Dorian Ledet, 17, of St. Peters St., and Jordan DeHart, 23, of Rio Vista Boulveard.
Both men were charged with criminal mischief and were taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

The Morgan City Police Department said that it made a slew of arrests on Dec. 13. Taken into custody for various offenses were the following suspects:
-Sir Michael Climax, 24, of Pine Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. and charged with disturbing the peace (urinating in public).
Authorities said they were dispatched to Grove Street in reference to a subject urinating in public. He was then located and identified as Climax. Authorities arrested him without incident on the above-mentioned charge.
-Tyrin T. Watts, 19, of Southeast Boulevard, Morgan City and David D. Picou, 18, of Delmar Street, Morgan City, were arrested at 8:48 p.m. Watts is held on charges of possession of a schedule I CDS (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer (false information). Authorities said they observed a vehicle turn without making a proper turn signal, prompting a traffic stop. After being pulled over, officers said they identified the driver as Picou and said he seemed to be extremely nervous, which led officers to frisk him for weapons, which led to officers finding a .22-caliber handgun in his possession.
Picou refused consent to a search of the vehicle, but a K-9 was dispatched to the scene and hinted officers to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.
During the search, officers located a container of suspected codeine, marijuana and paraphernalia. Watts, the passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of small cellophane bags of suspected marijuana. During investigation, officers said they learned that Picou had supplied Watts with the drugs.

LPSO makes trespassing arrest
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office nabbed a 21-year-old Raceland man after authorities learned he was wanted in multiple parishes.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, deputies responded to the area of St. Patrick Street in Raceland in reference to a trespassing complaint, Lafourche spokesman Brennan Matherne said.
Once on the scene, deputies said they spotted a male suspect, identified as Troy Taylor Jr., 21, of 231 St. Louis St., Raceland. The suspect was riding an off-road motorcycle on private property at the time.
Deputies flagged Taylor and questioned him, learning that he did not have permission to be on the property. They also learned through investigation that Taylor had outstanding warrants in Lafourche and Point Coupee parishes for various offenses.
The warrant in Lafourche was for felony possession of stolen things.
Authorities said the warrant in Point Coupee was for theft.
Taylor was placed under arrest and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he was booked on the outstanding warrants and also on charges of criminal trespassing.
Taylor posted a $1,600 bond, but is still being held because of his charges in Point Coupee Parish.
Convicted felon found in possession of a loaded gun
It’s probably not a good idea to ask a deputy for a ride home if in possession of a gun.
But if you’re also in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the time, you’ll likely end up in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
At 11 p.m. on Dec. 10, deputies said they responded to a fast food restaurant in Raceland after receiving reports that a female subject was banging on the door and yelling at employees to allow her to enter the business, authorities said.
Upon arrival, authorities said they located the woman and identified her as Melissa Runnels, 25, of 1797 West Main St., Schriever.
LPSO spokesman deputy Brennan Matherne said Runnels told deputies that she was stranded at her location by her boyfriend following an argument and that she wanted a ride home.
Authorities said they agreed to bring Runnels home, but said she had to consent to a pat-down search first for officer safety.
During that search, officers discovered a 9mm handgun with 41 extra rounds of ammunition in the suspect’s pockets. At the discovery of the handgun, Matherne said that Runnels started changing her story several times and was detained by deputies.
During that time, Matherne said the suspect complained of shortness of breath and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, it was learned that Runnels attempted to swallow a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana, but was stopped by medical personnel.
Further investigation also led authorities to learn that Runnels is a convicted felon. Drug paraphernalia was also located in her possession.
Following treatment, Runnels was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Raceland man caught stealing twice in less than four hours
A Raceland man was allegedly caught stealing twice in a four hour span this week in Lafourche Parish.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman deputy Brennan Matherne said the first alleged thievery occurred at around 6:45 p.m. last Wednesday when deputies were dispatched to the Raceland Walmart Supercenter on a shoplifting complaint.
Upon arrival, Matherne said, authorities learned that store employees confronted a man after he was seen concealing merchandise worth nearly $50 inside his jacket and walking out the store.
Authorities viewed surveillance footage and said they identified Sherman Rambo, 45, of 540 St. Louis St., of Raceland, as the suspect. Deputies proceeded to Rambo’s neighborhood and spotted him exiting a vehicle in Greenville Street. Upon contact, Matherne said the suspect admitted to his crime.
Deputies gave Rambo a criminal summons for theft of goods and he was released at that time.
Less than four hours later, deputies responded to another theft complaint when a person called and said that a black male was seen taking a toolbox from a garage, Matherne said.
Upon arrival to the neighborhood, Matherne said, authorities spotted a man fitting the description given by witnesses walking along St. Phillip Street.
Upon contact, authorities identified the man as Rambo and located the toolbox a few feet away in a ditch.
Through surveillance footage, deputies were able to ID Rambo as the person who took the toolbox, Matherne said.
Rambo was arrested and charged with felony simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. He is held in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
