Thieves steal 1997 Dodge truck in Houma
A 61-year-old Houma man told police Saturday that as he and a co-worker worked at a residence, someone stole his 1997 Dodge truck, according to a police spokesman.
Lt. Todd Duplantis said Houma Police were dispatched to the 100 block of New Orleans Boulevard on a vehicle theft complaint around 3 p.m. Dec. 30. The man told police as he worked inside the residence, it started to rain heavily, Duplantis said. The man told officers he stepped outside and closed the door to prevent the rain from coming inside the truck cab.
According to Duplantis, when it stopped raining the man opened the door to step outside and noticed his truck was gone. The man told police he was surprised he didn’t hear thieves drive off since the vehicle was parked only a few feet away from the door of the residence. Duplantis said the man told officers he had left the keys to the truck in the ignition and that the doors were unlocked.
Officers patrolled the area but were unable to find the truck. The truck is listed in a police database as stolen. Anyone who has spotted a 1997 Dodge 1500 truck, brown and tan in color, bearing license plate number W630976 to call police at (985) 873-6371.

Houma Police searching for suspects in aggravated battery
A 19-year-old male and his 20-year-old girl reported six people kicked in the front door of his residence Friday afternoon and attacked the couple, according to Lt. Todd Duplantis, spokesman for the Houma Police Department.
Police were called to the 500 block of Antoine Street at approximately 4:27 p.m. in reference to the attack, Duplantis said.
The man told police one of the suspects pulled a handgun, which he used to repeatedly strike the man in the face with, Duplantis said. The 19-year-old had a severe cut below his right eye, and was transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center, the spokesman said. He did not receive any stitches, but the wound was treated.
In addition to being beaten by the gunman, the 19-year-old said two other suspects punched him, Duplantis said.
The woman, in the meantime, told police she had been hit by the attackers and hit in the face by one man who used his knee, the spokesman said. The woman received only a minor bump on the right side of her forehead and refused medical treatment, Duplantis said.
The couple told police the suspects fled in a vehicle, he said.
When police arrived, they patrolled the area, but were unable to find the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing, Duplantis said, and arrests have yet to be made.
