It’s time to stock the freezer with this year’s Girl Scout cookies, now baked with zero trans fat per serving.

Local Girl Scouts will be selling those delicious Girl Scout cookies at booth locations throughout Lafourche, Terrebonne and St. Mary Parish beginning March 3. According to Girls Scout representative Marianne Burdette, the girls, who have been taking pre-orders since the annual sale began January 20, will also begin delivering the cookies to customers on March 3.

“The cookies freeze very well, so stock up now because they’re only offered once a year,” said Hem Sheth, the Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana’s product sales manager.

Sheth said the Girl Scout troops will hold booth sales the first three weekends in March. Council-sponsored booth locations in Houma are: Rouse’s, 9465 East Park Avenue (March 3-4, March 17-18); Rouse’s, 561 Grand Caillou Road (March 3 and March 10); Rouse’s, 5818 West Main St. (March 3-4); Rouse’s, 1410 St. Charles St. (March 3 and March 10); Sam’s Club, 2174 Martin Luther King Blvd. (March 10 only); Lowe’s, 1592 Martin Luther King Blvd.; Wal-Mart Supercenter, 1633 Martin Luther King Blvd. (March 4, March 11, March 17-18);

In Thibodaux: Wal-Mart, 410 North Canal Blvd.; Big Lots, 404 North Canal Blvd., (March 10-11); in Galliano: Wal-Mart, 16759 Hwy 3235; in Mathews: Wal-Mart, 4876 Hwy 1 South; in Raceland: Rouse’s, 3880 Highway 1; in Bayou Vista: Wal-Mart, 973 Hwy 90 East; Cannata’s, 853 Hwy 90 East; in Morgan City: Rouse’s, 6403 Hwy 182 East.

Cookies are $3.50 a box, payable upon delivery. Proceeds remain in southeast Louisiana with a portion going to local troops to fund their troop activities and the remainder helping the Council.

Customers also have the option of placing an order for cookies by calling the Cookie hotline at (504) 733-8220 or 1-(800) 644-7571. These orders are forwarded to local troops to fulfill.
