HNC bridge to close Thursday

The Houma Navigation Canal Bridge on La. Highway 661 in Houma will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1-4 p.m. Thursday. The closure is needed to allow a Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development contractor to perform rehabilitation work on the bridge as part of a multi-million dollar project.

Initial plans for an extended project that would close the bridge for several weeks have been put on hold indefinitely.

Alternate routes available for Thursday’s bridge closing include: La. Highway 661 (South Van Ave.) to La. Highway 57 (Grand Caillou Road) to La. Highway 3040 (Tunnel Blvd.) to U.S. Highway 90 (Barrow St.) to La. Highway 315; or La. Highway 661 (South Van Ave.) to La. Highway 57 (Grand Caillou Road) to La. Highway 24 (Twin Span Bridge) to U.S. Highway 90 (Barrow St.) to La. Highway 315.
