An anonymous caller tipped Terrebonne Parish law enforcement agents to a man cooking and selling crack cocaine out of a local hotel last Wednesday.

Terrebonne Parish Narcotics Division agents learned a man was cooking the narcotic and selling it out of a hotel room at the Red Carpet Inn in Houma, said Capt. Malcolm Wolfe, sheriff’s office spokesman.

Around 6 p.m., agents went to the hotel room and knocked on the door, he said. After several minutes, a man answered, giving agents a fake name.

During their investigation, agents found that the man, Joshua Lagarde, 19, of 113 A. Senator Circle, Houma, had 27 grams of powder cocaine, 11 grams of crack cocaine and $761 in cash in the room. The narcotics, which were seized for evidence, carry a street value of $4,320 and $2,400, respectively, Wolfe said.

Legarde was arreted for possession with the intent to distribute CDS II (cocaine), possession with the intent to CDS II (crack cocaine), illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and proceeds involving drug transaction.†Arrest warrants for Lagarde has also been issued for probation violation, theft, simple burglary, aggravated battery (domestic violence) and aggravated battery.†

Lagarde was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail where he was booked and jailed.
