Houma artist Kassie Voisin selected to design print for international State of the Port event

Congratulations to local muralist Kassie Matherne Voisin, who was recently chosen to design an original print for the international Port of New Orleans State of the Port event, which took place on November 14, 2024.

Kassie Voisin, owner and artist behind Murals by Kassie, is known around Terrebonne, Lafourche, and other surrounding parishes for her colorful murals on the windows of businesses– including festive Christmas and Mardi Gras-themed paintings. Now, her work has reached an even larger audience with her recent original print for the Port of New Orleans. Read more about Kassie’s career here.

“One of the Port New Orleans employees was walking through Lakeside Mall and saw some of my artwork, and reached out to have me design this print for the conference,”  said Kassie Matherne Voisin. “I thought it was really cool that a previous job led to this one.”

The print features an original drawing by Kassie, depicting several Port New Orleans cranes at sunset. The print was distributed to everyone at the conference, which drew a large, international body of attendees.

“It was such an amazing opportunity. I got to tour the cranes and the port itself, which was a really unique experience,” said Voisin. “I thought it was a beautiful way to portray New Orleans and Louisiana for people who aren’t from here. It was an honor and I think everyone really enjoyed it.”
