October 15, 2013The Houma Civitan Club is looking to recognize a special veteran.
The local organization announced that it would take letters of nomination in an attempt to honor a local veteran who has continued to render service to his or her local community.
Houma Civitan Club member Clayton Guedry said that he hopes the honoring would become an annual event so that our local heroes don’t go unnoticed.
Members of the public are invited to submit letters of nomination.
Those letters should be mailed to the Houma Civitan Club at P.O. Box 495, Houma, La. 70363
Letters of nomination should include:
• The name, rank, branch of service and approximate dates of service for individual nominated
• Duties, accomplishments and honors received while a member of the military.
• Address and phone number of the person being nominated, as well as the address and phone number of the person making the accommodation.
• The ways in which the veteran has continued to serve the community post-military service.
Guedry said that the veteran considered could be either living or deceased. Nominations will be taken until Oct. 25.
