November 1, 2006The South Houma Memorial Fire Station will finally be dedicated during a ceremony this weekend.
Houma Fire Chief Daniel Scott came before the Terrebonne Parish Council at Wednesdays nights regular meeting, wishing to address an issue regarding the South Houma Memorial Fire Station.
Upon completion, the station was never properly dedicated, Scott told the council. “It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “But we plan on taking care of that this weekend.”
An official ceremony will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is urged to come out for the noon ribbon-cutting ceremony and to take part in a station meet-and-greet while exploring the station.
“This was a very long project,” said District 6 Councilman Harold Lapeyre. “A project that we all can be proud of and we invite the whole parish to come out. We hope to have a big attending.”
The Terrebonne Parish Tree Board will also make an appearance, planting memory trees around the complex.
The South Terrebonne Fire Station is located at 1430 St. Charles St in Houma.
