A Houma man is facing second-degree aggravated battery charges after he beat his girlfriend in the face with a telephone Wednesday afternoon, Houma Police said.
Manuel A. Moreno, 23, of 236 B Grand Caillou Road, got into an argument with his 28-year-old girlfriend when he got home from work, police said. That’s when he slammed the phone into her face.
The woman was treated at Leonard Chabert Medical Center. Police said she had a one-inch cut above her right eye. She received eight stitches to close the cut.
Detectives later found and arrested Moreno.
If convicted, Moreno faces a maximum fine of $10,000 or a 15-year prison sentence.
