Houma Police are blaming Thursday morning thick fog for a single-car accident at the intersection of Southdown Mandalay Road.

According to a release, Alfredia D. Williams, 70, of Houma, was traveling south on the road in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am when she had trouble seeing because of the fog. As she made the curve on Southdown Mandalay Road, Williams ran off the right side of the road, landing into a ditch. The front end of her vehicle was severely damaged, police reported.

Williams and her two passengers were taken to Terrebonne General Hospital with what police described as minor injuries. The release said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The road reopened after about an hour. No citations were issued.
