A 28-year-old Houma man forced his way into a residence early Saturday, pushed the woman who answered the door out of the way, ran into the bedroom and began beating on a male friend as he slept, according to Houma Police.

Christopher Blanton, of 10508 East Park Ave., forced his way inside a residence in the 600 block of High Street around 4:40 a.m., department spokesman Lt. Todd Duplantis said.

According to the couple, Blanton was repeatedly banging on the front door of the residence asking to be let in, the spokesman said. When the woman opened the door, he pushed her aside and ran into the bedroom where he began assaulting her friend, the officer explained.

The woman told police that Blanton ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. In the process of arming himself, Duplantis said Blanton cut his own hand. He then exited the residence.

Duplantis said the man had some bruising and swelling to his face, and his lip was cut and bleeding. The man refused medical treatment.

Police were notified that Blanton was at Terrebonne General Hospital, Duplantis continued. When he cut himself, Blanton had nearly severed three fingers and had also cut his pinky finger, which required stitches, the officer said.

Because of his medical condition, Blanton was issued a summons for simple battery and aggravated assault, Duplantis said.
