The following is a rundown of the action taken by the Lafourche Parish School at its regularly scheduled May 2 meeting. All board members were present. All votes were unanimous.

• Designated May 6-12, 2007, as National Nurses Week.

• Designated May 13-19, 2007, as National Police Week.

• Designated May 15, 2007, as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

• Adopted memorial resolutions for Meagan Barrilleaux, a student at Thibodaux High School; Hazel Savoie, a retired janitor; and Marilyn Robinson, a retired food service technician.

• Appointed Melissa Gisclair the itinerant bookkeeper for Lafourche Parish Schools.

• Created an administrative assistant position at Golden Meadow Lower Elementary School.

• Accepted Zimmer-Eschette Services’ $28,673 quote for abatement work at Lockport Lower Elementary and Golden Meadow Middle schools.

• Accepted Siemens’ $4,712 change order proposal to install controls at Larose Upper Elementary School’s new library building.

• Agreed to advertise for bids on pest control services in the schools.

• Agreed to advertise for bids on HVAC equipment replacement/repairs.

• Accepted A & L Sales’ bid for floor waxing and stripper.

• Accepted bid reports for the purchase of a two-color offset press.

• Accepted bid reports for the sales of surplus equipment, which includes trucks and tractors.

• Agreed to advertise for bids on athletic equipment.
