Lafourche School Board: In other business

The Lafourche Parish School Board took the following actions at its regular meeting last Wednesday. All board members were present and all actions were approved unless otherwise noted.

• Accepted Edward J. Laperouse Metal Works’ $208,847 bid for the canopy replacement work at Golden Meadow Middle School.

• Approved a change order for $8,053.97, which includes two additional catch basins at Raceland Middle School.

• Approved a change order for $1,100 for windowsills waterproofing at Thibodaux Elementary School north side.

• Authorized adding waterproofing to the Raceland Middle School Building No. 1 to the existing Gossen & Holloway Architects contract.

• Approved advertising for bids for 10 concrete paving projects that were awarded to civil engineers for phase three construction work in the parish.

• Approved a $25,637.44 phone system upgrade at the Central Office by Access Communications.

• Approved advertising for bids for a hunting and fishing lease on property located north and east of Golden Meadow.

• Revised Policy GBE, Assignment.

• Renewed the service agreement with Unemployment Compensation Control System Inc. (UCCS) for the 2008 calendar year under the same terms that are now in effect.

• Accepted memorial resolutions for John Bernard, a former school board member; Layman Gisclair, a retired maintenance employee; and Melanzie Thibodaux, a retired food service technician.

• Approved general leaves of absence without pay for Ashley Barrios, an itinerant special education teacher for the parish, and Kristy Lee, a paraprofessional at Golden Meadow Lower Elementary School.
