April 7, 2011Simone Harris has been named associate director of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union at Nicholls State University. As such, she will oversee the Office of Continuing Education, spearheading adult and youth non-credit programs that provide opportunities for intellectual and personal development.
“As a native of Thibodaux, I’m glad to be in a position where I can positively impact the university and the community as a whole,” Harris said. “I understand and appreciate the importance of youth enhancement through programs and event services. I enjoy experiencing the fulfillment of personal growth and seeing how it can positively inspire others, and I know I’ll get that chance in this position.”
Harris will report to Brandie Toups, director of the student union and former director of continuing education, a position that used to fall directly under the Office of Auxiliary Services before Nicholls implemented certain organizational restructuring.
“Simone will represent Nicholls well with her honed professionalism and multi-faceted organization skills,” Toups said. “I am excited to have such a strong team in the Office of Continuing Education.”
