Dr. Phillip McAllister, a neurosurgeon on the active medical staff at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), has opened a new practice, the Houma Neurosurgery & Spine Center, at 895 Verret St.

An active member of TGMC’s medical staff since November 2004, McAllister is a graduate of The University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his internship and residency at West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va., and a fellowship in reconstructive spinal surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

McAllister served in the U.S. Army from 1975-83 as an airborne ranger and as a Green Beret in the Special Forces.

A Houma resident, McAllister and his wife Cynthia are the parents of two and grandparents of five children. His free time is spent fishing and spending time with his family.
