The St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce will host a political forum to give candidates seeking office in the parish an opportunity to pitch their platforms to citizens.

According to Chamber Director Donna Meyer, “the forum will give all opposed candidates a chance to express their priorities that they will address if elected.”

Although the public will not openly question candidates, residents can visit with those running before and after the forums.

“No matter if you’re a candidate or a member of the audience, each event will give everyone an opportunity to express their concerns,” Meyer said.

The forum will be held Thursday, beginning at 6:20 p.m. Those vying for seats in the Town of Berwick and candidates for the St. Mary Parish School Board will be at the Berwick Civic Center.

Mayor Louis Ratcliff was re-elected without opposition.

However, newcomer Randal Monceaux is challenging Berwick’s incumbent at-large aldermen Duval Arthur, Penny Crappel, Troy Lombardo, Damon Robison and Edgar Thomas Jr.
