Falgout receives USCG recognition for recent storms

The U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Merit was awarded to Ted Falgout, port director for the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.

The Coast Guard cited Falgout for “outstanding dedication and support of Coast Guard missions” during last year’s storm season and credited him with “fostering positive partnerships with government agencies, maritime industry and public interest groups while continuing to ‘do the right thing’ for the citizens of South Louisiana.”

The Coast Guard’s recognition came on the heels of a resolution adopted by the board of commissioners, which recognized Falgout for his 31 years of service to the Port Commission. He retires at the end of the month.

“It has been very rewarding to me to have played a role in the evolution of Port Fourchon,” said Falgout, “from a small fishing port… to what it is today: a port of national significance, one of the major economic engines of this region, with billions of dollars of infrastructure in place and thousands of jobs for our community.”
