October 21, 2024Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is pleased to announce the introduction of Hexapod radiation technology at its Gonzales and Houma locations.
This state-of-the-art advancement marks a significant leap forward in precision and patient care in radiation therapy at both Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales and Terrebonne General | Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
The Hexapod is a robotic platform that offers a wide range of movement for patients, resulting in unparalleled accuracy. Unlike traditional treatment tables that only offer movement along three axes—up/down, in/out, and left/right—the Hexapod offers movement along six axes and is capable of accounting for subtle variations.
This ensures that each patient’s treatment is subject to exceptional precision, accounting for even the smallest variations in positioning. Additionally, the Hexapod can help target tumors and minimize exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
“Integrating the Hexapod technology into our Gonzales and Houma locations reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of cancer treatment,” said Ryan Houston, cancer program administrator, community sites at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. “This advanced technology not only enhances the precision of our treatments but also improves safety and comfort, ultimately contributing to better outcomes for our patients.”
The introduction of the Hexapod system highlights Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s commitment to utilizing the latest technological advancements to provide the highest quality of care.
