Local historian revisits WWII submarine warfare
October 21, 2010Nicholls State University will host its annual Family Day festival Saturday, including live music, games for the children and a fundraiser to support the university’s athletic programs.
The festivities will begin at 8:30 a.m. when the Stroll for Student-Athlete Scholarships begins. Registration for the 30- to 40-minute route beginning and ending at the Bollinger Memorial Student Union is $20 and includes a T-shirt and catered breakfast.
Treater, a swamp pop band, will perform near John L. Guidry Stadium, and food booths will offer jambalaya, hamburgers, cotton candy and more. There will also be arts-and-crafts booths with face painting, displays and interactive games.
The festival is scheduled from noon to 3:30 p.m., and Family Day participants have the opportunity to purchase $10 tickets to the 4 p.m. football game between Nicholls and the University of Central Arkansas. Tickets will be available at West Gate 2 and East Gate 1.
