Nicholls State University unveils its 2013 Homecoming court Sept. 26 at an on-campus event also featuring concerts by New Orleans blues artist Mia Borders and pop rock singer Ryan Cabrera.

The Thursday event – Alive @ 5 – is staged in the tailgate area near John L. Guidry Stadium. Admission is free for Nicholls’ students, $1 for Fletcher students and $5 for non-students. Children 12 and younger get in free.

The university’s 2013 Homecoming Court is also presented at the event, sponsored by the Student Programming Association.

Nicholls’ Homecoming philanthropy project is a school-supply drive benefiting Lafourche Parish schools. Donations are accepted at the Nicholls Office of Admissions and the Office of Student Life.

Themed “Colonels Save the World,” Homecoming week festivities begin Sept. 22 and last through the football team’s Sept. 28 game against the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys. The game begins at 6 p.m. Nicholls’ Alumni Federation hosts a tailgating party beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Activities scheduled throughout the week include a barbecue, pep rally, flag football games and pirogue races.
