BP and the U.S. Coast Guard will host its second “Open House Expo” in Lafourche Parish Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Moses Community Center (1310 Cardinal Drive, Thibodaux).

Along with BP and the U.S. Coast Guard, representatives from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, U.S. Wildlife and Fisheries, the Environmental Protection Agency and other state and partner agencies responding to the Deepwater Horizon incident will be in attendance.

Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in one-on-one conversations with experts about the techniques, strategies and materials being used in the spill response.

The representatives will provide visual information on the various tools, equipment and strategies that are being used in the response, including booms, burns, sand berms, skimming and dispersants.

They will also be available to address concerns about environmental quality, wildlife, safety and resources available to residents.

BP representatives will be on hand to answer questions regarding the claims process and the Vessels of Opportunity program, and contractors will also be present to provide information on job opportunities related to the oil spill cleanup efforts.

If anyone has any questions regarding the expo, they are asked to contact the BP Office in Cut Off at (985) 632-1087.
