Less than 23 hours after finding the burning remains of 52-year-old Russell Lynn Jacobs, of 1047 Lafayette St. in Houma, in a field near Kody Court in Gray, detectives with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects, and charged each with one count of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Monday, officers apprehended Dontrell Durrell Robertson, 21, of 412 Antoine St., and Kendall Wade Scott, 25, of 1047 (A) Lafayette St. in Houma.

During the process of investigation, detectives were led to Jacobs’ residence with a search warrant and found several individuals there. Those present were taken to the TPSO for questioning. Evidence was established to justify the arrests of Robertson and Scott.

According to Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois, the case is still under investigation and an autopsy is being performed on Jacobs’ remains to determines an exact cause of death.

If convicted of the crimes, both Robertson and Scott could face sentences of life in prison.
