Terrebonne Parish President Jason Bergeron is being accused of a possible ethics violation following participation in a “Trump Train” parade, supporting former President Donald Trump ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Parish President Bergeron was allegedly seen driving through downtown Houma in a decorated public vehicle, with a life-sized, cardboard cutout of former President Trump.

Concerns revolve around if the Parish President was using taxpayer property to promote a candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, which would violate both the state constitution and the state election code for an elected official to use public property for political activity.

“This is about accountability. President Bergeron ran for office on the platform that he was going to hold people accountable and be transparent himself,” said Councilman Brien Pledger. “I absolutely encourage everyone to vote and support whomever they want, but us elected officials cannot use public resources to promote our personal beliefs.”

The office of Parish President Jason Bergeron has no official response at this time. This is a developing story.
