Anthony Spencer was attempting to cross Main Street, near New Orleans Boulevard, around 6:30 Thursday morning when he went down, Houma authorities said.

The 46-year-old was smacked by the side mirror on a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage, which was driven by a 23-year-old woman who was traveling east on Main Street, according to Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman. He was lying on the ground when police arrived.

Witnesses confirmed Spencer was crossing the street when the mirror tagged him, the chief said.

Alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor in the incident, Coleman said.

Spencer, an Oakshire Drive resident in Houma, was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center to have his minor injuries treated, the chief said. He was cited for pedestrian in the roadway.
