Acting on a tip from a caller, Houma Police arrested a local man Tuesday after a clear plastic bag containing crack cocaine fell out of his shoe, a department spokesman said.

Police were dispatched to Dixie Avenue in east Houma around 3 a.m. after a caller reported possible drug activity on the street, Lt. Todd Duplantis said. The caller said a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans was seen running through the yard toward East Street, the spokesman said.


When officers arrived, they spotted a man n Belvin J. “Whopper” McKinley, 24, of 126 Daniel Turner Court n fitting that description near Daniel Turner Court, Duplantis said. When they stopped the man, a clear plastic bag fell out of his shoe. The white, rock-like substance is suspected to be crack cocaine, police said, and the bag was seized for evidence.

McKinley was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and was taken to Terrebonne Parish Jail.
