RUMOR CONTROL: No credible threats to Lafourche Parish schools

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is aware of screenshots of messages referencing additional threats to schools. These are generic messages that do not reference a specific school but suggest that Friday’s threats across the country were “the beginning” They also reference fire alarms possibly being pulled to force students out of classrooms. At this time, there are NO CREDIBLE THREATS to Lafourche Parish schools.
The goal of those responsible for these messages is to make people live in fear and cause widespread panic and chaos. We understand that as parents there is always concern for your children even in the absence of any threat, but rest assured the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will take each and every threat seriously to ensure the safety of all students, faculty and staff.
As for anyone considering pulling fire alarms maliciously: this is not a prank, it is a CRIME. Doing so can result in criminal charges in addition to any disciplinary actions by the school.
