April 23, 2013The 10th annual “Running of the Bears” begins at 8 a.m. Saturday in Franklin.
The 5k Fun Run/Walk is part of the annual Bear Festival, which is held along the city’s historic Main Street. The run itself begins and ends in front of the St. Mary Parish Courthouse.
The top male and female finisher will receive $100 each.
Registration race day is $25, and begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Pre-registration is $20. Downloadable entry forms are available at www.kbze.com, the website of KBZE 105.9FM, sponsor of the race. Registering early guarantees participants a commemorative race T-shirt.
Runners or walkers who’d like to participate but forgo receiving a T-shirt can register for $15.
All participants are eligible to win four tickets to Schlitterbahn Water Park in Galveston, Texas.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Teche Action Clinic of Franklin.
